We spent a month living in Da Nang, Vietnam — and now we’re asking the big question: Could we live here long-term? In this episode of our “Could We Live Here?” series, we’re breaking down what it’s really like to live in Da Nang as retired nomads on a $5000 a month budget.
From the stunning beaches to the buzzing food scene, Da Nang surprised us in all the best ways. We’ll cover:
• What “long-term” means for us as slow travelers
• Why we chose Da Nang after Hoi An and Siem Reap
• The cost of living (Airbnb, meals, massages, and more)
• Safety, healthcare, and transportation
• Walkability and neighborhood vibes
• What to expect from the climate
• The food and that laid-back beach energy
• What we’d do differently next time
• And whether we’d come back for a 3-month stay
Spoiler alert: We didn’t expect to fall in love with this place — but we just might.

Just left after 1 month, okay, disappointing in certain aspects. A Bang is the best beach
I hate the place and can’t wait to leave. The combination of noise, air and environmental pollution is very difficult to tolerate. The beach is s garbage dump strewn with plastics and polystyrene from one end to the other. People burn piles of plastic trash on the streets. Enjoy breathing in the toxic fumes. The honking horns is rhe worst part of da nang. Idiotic drivers honking from 5am to midnight.
Give philippines a try…..
How is the pollution in the air?
Nice to hear this made your list! Others have mentioned the amount of trash on sidewalks/streets, did you notice that? Did you swim in ocean?
Good
Damn i left the USA to get away from the annoying voices of bleach blond white women, and now they are coming here ! haha
