I stumbled across video and find it ridiculously hilarious. In the beginning, they went to a “Bo Ne” restaurant and looked for “pho”, hahaha. Toward the end, they went to “Hoang’s Kitchen” and had “pho”; still, hahaha. They didn’t do their research about Vietnamese food. The OP spoke Mandarin and English (Aussie) I presumed. To put it in perspective, would you go to “Din Tai Fung” and order “Dim Sum”? Tourist trap, sure cuz they are in District 1, that’s where all the tourists go to spend, LOL Instead of blaming Google Maps reviews, blame yourself for not doing adequate research. I am not defending HCMC, I’ve lived there for a bit and I hated it; but for different reasons. I am a foodie and I’ve been to more than 500 restaurants in HCMC, from Michelin rated to old lady street corner cart. Don’t blame Google Maps, LOL

I would say the golden rule when travelling Byanca is to ignore reviews and go with the flow; it can be hit and miss where you end up but can be more fun. Agree about tourist traps; if there are no locals in the eateries then don’t eat there.

I often wonder how genuine some reviews we see on Google maps or other apps regarding restaurants and hotels. All we can do is make an assumption and intuition that some are true or not! I know that some reviews are made by people that have vested reasons to write a positive or negative comment. Unless there are hundreds of reviews for a place! Just looked up the reviews of this restaurant, all very recent, if you looked up the lowest reviews, there are many that gave only a 1 star review, mentioning how bad the food was and being a tourist trap!
