Walkabout Hue, Vietnam
We took a quick weekend getaway from Da Nang to Hue, crossing the iconic Hai Van Pass and diving into a mix of history, shopping, food, and family fun.
Our first stop? The brand-new Aeon Mall. Think Japanese department store meets Vietnamese food court. Air-conditioned heaven for families, complete with play zones, H&M, Levi’s, Adidas, and every reason for kids (and adults) to say “can we get this?”
Hue is a city layered with history and meaning. We made a pilgrimage to Tu Hieu Pagoda, the root temple of Zen Master Thích Nhất Hạnh, where he first ordained and later returned before his passing. A quiet, reverent place that holds deep personal meaning.
The rest of the trip was pure Hue spirit: pizza and dumplings at Vu Cuisine, strolling the walking street, and winding along peaceful backroads by the lagoon. Hue is always a mix of energy and stillness, shopping bags and meditation bells.
This video is a reminder: sometimes a weekend escape can give you both fun and reflection; all just a couple of hours north of Da Nang.
