Welcome to Vietnam! In this video, I take you on an adventure through Tân Bình, a vibrant district situated about an hour from the bustling center of Ho Chi Minh City. From navigating the chaotic streets brimming with motorcycles and cars to savoring authentic street food and uncovering hidden gems, this journey is filled with unique local experiences!
We kick off with the ultimate challenge—crossing the street in Vietnam, a task that feels even more intense than crossing a highway in Europe! The trick? Walk predictably and hope for the best.
Next, I dive into the local culinary scene, trying a noodle dish with a surprising ingredient: frozen blood (don’t worry, I passed on that!). Sitting at tiny street-side tables, I shared the meal with friendly locals and even met a tattoo artist from Vietnam!
The adventure doesn’t end there—I discovered a local swimming pool where I swam laps under the open sky, enjoying the refreshing atmosphere despite some questionable showers. Afterward, I quenched my thirst with freshly made “cam” juice (spoiler: it’s orange juice!) at a small café run by a welcoming family who even invited me to chat with the owner’s wife!
Finally, I returned to my $20 hotel room in Tân Bình—a spacious, modern, and comfortable place with a few quirks like a rock-hard bed and a “gym” in the hallway. Despite those, it’s a fantastic deal for exploring this lively neighborhood.
Thank you for joining me on this thrilling day in Ho Chi Minh City! Stay tuned as we head to the city center next. Cảm ơn (thank you) and see you in the next video!
